Iceland at its most dramatic: this 8-day trip covers thundering waterfalls, black-sand beaches, geothermal lagoons, and glowing blue glaciers, all within a compact loop from Reykjavík. The journey begins in Iceland's colorful capital, taking in Nordic design, the Hallgrímskirkja tower, Harpa Concert Hall, and the Sun Voyager sculpture, before heading out to the legendary Golden Circle to see Gullfoss, Geysir, and the rift valley at Þingvellir. From there the route follows the South Coast's greatest hits, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, and the black sands of Reynisfjara, before finishing at the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón and its sparkling Diamond Beach.
Beyond the sightseeing, the trip is built around a handful of standout experiences: a soak at Sky Lagoon with its full Skjól ritual, a guided glacier hike, a whale watching cruise on Faxaflói Bay, and a dedicated night drive to chase the Northern Lights. Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive in Iceland (KEF → Reykjavík)
Land at Keflavík Airport and take a private group transfer into Reykjavík. Settle into the hotel, then enjoy an easy first evening strolling the harbor or Laugavegur. Clear skies might offer an early glimpse of the Northern Lights. Overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 2 — Reykjavík City Tour + Northern Lights Night Drive
A guided walking tour of downtown Reykjavík takes in Hallgrímskirkja (with tower views), the Sun Voyager sculpture, and Harpa Concert Hall, followed by some free time to explore cafés and shops. After dinner, head out on a 3–4 hour guided private drive to chase the Northern Lights. Breakfast included; overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 3 — Sky Lagoon + Golden Circle Drive
Start with a relaxing soak at Sky Lagoon, then tackle the Golden Circle: Þingvellir National Park, the Strokkur geyser, and Gullfoss waterfall. Day 4 — South Coast Waterfalls + Black Sand + Glacier Hike

Day 5 — Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon + Diamond Beach
Visit the iceberg-filled Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, then walk the shoreline at Diamond Beach, where ice fragments glitter against black sand. Pacing may flex for extra scenic stops depending on conditions. Breakfast included; overnight in the same southeast region.
Day 6 — Scenic Return to Reykjavík
A relaxed drive back west with stops chosen based on conditions, potentially including Dyrhólaey's clifftop views, a break in Vík, and waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Gljúfrabúi. Arrive back in Reykjavík by evening. Breakfast included; overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 7 — Whale Watching + Reykjavík Free Time + Closing Dinner
Depart from the Old Harbor for a whale watching cruise in Faxaflói Bay, then enjoy free time along Laugavegur for shops, cafés, and galleries. Close out the trip with a group dinner in Reykjavík. Breakfast included; overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 8 — Depart for Home
Transfer to Keflavík International Airport for departure, with time for last-minute shopping or a final museum stop if flights allow. Breakfast included.
